As you may know, our school board recently approved our plan to reopen schools in three phases. In phase 1, all our students will begin the year in 100% distance learning. That is the point where we are now. Phase 1 will last for a minimum of three weeks or as long as necessary depending upon health conditions.   

Once we have received final ratification of our tentative agreement with our teachers’ union and an approval from the school board, the principal of your child’s school will reach out to you with additional information about distance learning expectations and other important information. Families who have previously requested to borrow a laptop or hot spot device to support their distance learning needs will also be notified about the distribution process at that time.

Le escribo para informarle que llevaremos una recomendación a nuestro consejo escolar para retrasar el inicio de clases del 12 al 17 de agosto de 2020. Mientras colaborando con la unión de maestros, estámos de acuerdo que retrasar el inicio del año escolar ayudará a nuestras familias a aclimatarse a nuestros planes para una reapertura gradual y dará a nuestros maestros y empleos más tiempo para prepararse. Esta es una propuesta que todavía tiene que estar votada por la unión de maestros, pero estamos seguros que este acuerdo beneficiará a todos. 

Como sabrán, nuestro consejo escolar aprobó recientemente nuestro plan para reabrir escuelas en tres etapas. En la etapa 1, todos nuestros estudiantes comenzarán el año en el aprendizaje a distancia. Ese es el punto donde estamos ahora. La etapa 1 durará un mínimo de tres semanas o el tiempo que sea necesario, dependiendo de las condiciones de salud. 

Una vez que hayamos recibido la ratificación final de nuestro acuerdo tentativo con la unión de maestros y una aprobación del consejo escolar, el director de la escuela de su hijo le comunicará a usted con las expectativas de aprendizaje a distancia y otra información importante. Las familias que hayan solicitado previamente un equipo portátil o un punto de acceso para el aprendizaje a distancia también recibirán una notificación sobre el proceso de distribución en ese momento.

In the past, our schools sent home loads of flyers in students’ backpacks. As part of our efforts to be more environmentally friendly and to embrace innovative technology, we have moved from paper to a digital flyer delivery.

With our Peachjar eflyer program, the eflyers will be sent directly to parents’ email inboxes as well as posted on school websites for easy access. All flyers may be accessed by clicking on the    logo. 

Each year, our schools will save tons of paper and reduce copy costs by thousands of dollars. In addition, paperless delivery of school flyers removes a significant administrative burden from teachers, office staff, and volunteers.

School and school district-approved eflyers will keep you informed about upcoming school activities, programs, and events. And our children's backpacks will be a little bit lighter!
